Q. DO YOU NEED SOME TYPE OF 'MOD-CHIP' TO PLAY BACK-UPS WITH THE FLIP-TOP COVER?
A. No. You can play PS2 CDR & DVDR
back-ups using the Flip-Top PS2 Cover and the Swap Magic PS2 Boot Discs
alone... no mod-chip of any kind is required! Q.
WHY DO I NEED THE SWAP MAGIC DISCS TO PLAY MY PS2 BACK-UPS?
A. The Swap Magic Discs are required
as they act as "PS2 Boot Discs" allowing you to ·¦trick·¦ the
PS2 into thinking it is booting-up an original PS2 game.
Q. HOW DO
THE SWAP MAGIC DISCS WORK IN 'TRICKING' THE PS2 INTO BOOTING BACK-UPS?
A. This is done by inserting a Swap
Magic Disc into your PS2, waiting for the PROMPT SCREEN, and then switching
it with your PS2 back-up game when it tells you to by opening the Flip-Top
lid. You can NOT use the EJECT/RESET button to perform this task or your
back-up will NOT work!
Q. WHY CAN'T
I SWAP MY DISCS USING THE RESET/EJECT BUTTON ON THE PS2?
A. The reason you cannot do this is
because EACH and EVERY time you press the RESET/EJECT button on your PS2
a signal is sent to the CPU of the console telling it the CD/DVD tray
has been opened or closed. As soon as the PS2 receives this signal, it
automatically re-checks the disc in the drive to verify that it is a legitimate
copy before booting it up to play.
Q.
DO I HAVE TO BUY THE FLIP-TOP COVER TO DO THIS "SWAP TRICK"
ON MY PS2?
A. No. However, if you don't use the
Flip-Top lid you will need to leave your factory PS2 cover OFF when performing
the swap of the Swap Magic Disc and your PS2 CDR or DVDR back-up. This
leaves the PS2 open to dust, and with the cover left off your PS2 is more
susceptible to damage from someone moving it while left apart.
Q. DO I
HAVE TO BUY THE SWAP MAGIC PS2 BOOT DISCS? CAN'T I COPY THEM?
A. Yes. You MUST buy the Swap Magic
discs as they are PRESSED at the factory in China. You can NOT copy them
correctly because they contain intentional ·¦bad sectors·¦ which today's
consumer CD and DVD burners are programmed to automatically correct...
so a BURNED copy of the Swap Magic Discs will NOT work on your PS2!
Q.
HOW DO I KNOW WHICH VERSION MY PS2 IS & WHICH FLIP-TOP COVER TO BUY?
A. The answer is simple. Turn your
PS2 over so that the "PS2" logo on the top is facing down on
a table or the floor. Look for tiny (about 1/4") black squares on
the underside of your PS2 and count how many you see. These are SCREW
COVERS, and you will either have (8) or (10) depending on how old or new
your PS2 console is.
Q.
The Custom PS2 Flip-Top Cover will fit *ALL* PS2 consoles, but to do this
two versions of it were manufactured.
A. One version fits all PS2 consoles
with (10) screw covers underneath it, and the other version fits all PS2
consoles with (8) screw covers underneath it.
Based on how many your PS2
has, that is which cover you are going to order. If you see (10) screw
covers underneath it you will order the "v1-3" Flip-Top Cover,
and if you have (8) screw covers underneath it you will order the "v4-7"
Flip Top Cover.
Q. DO THE
SWAP MAGIC DISCS WORK WITH PS2 DVDRIPS FOUND ON THE INTERNET?
A. No. The reason they do NOT is because
a DVDRIP circumvents the specifications $ONY set for standard (store-bought
original) PS2 CD and DVD games. Most DVDRIPS are greater than 72 minutes
and people burn them to an 80-minute CDR to play them, but these can NOT
be played on a PS2 which doesn't have an internal mod-chip installed.
Q.
CAN I PLAY IMPORT ORIGINALS WITH THE SWAP MAGIC DISCS?
A. Yes you can!
Q.
CAN I PLAY PSX/PSONE BACK-UPS WITH THE SWAP MAGIC DISCS?
A. No. They are PS2 Boot Discs...
for PSX/PSOne back-ups use the GameShark 2/Action Replay 2 original game
discs to swap with and boot them up.
Q. DO I HAVE
TO PATCH ANY 1:1 BACK-UPS OF PS2 CD OR DVD GAMES SUCH AS "EA SPORTS"?
A. No... NO patching is required to
play EA Sports games using the Swap Magic discs
